Lowell Boats: Wood Boats

Wooden boats are our history, our heritage, and our first love. Jamie and Joe are two of the few remaining boatbuilders who still know how to build a boat from the drawing board, to lofting, to building the hull, to the fine woodworking, to launch. Listed here are some of our most popular Lowell wooden boat designs (and one custom fiberglass boat).

All of these boats are custom built, so any of these designs can be modified according to an owner's specific use and wishes for the boat.

You may notice that we list our boats individually by name. This is because the Lowell Brothers remember each boat almost like a family member. If you ask Jamie and Joe about most of these boats, it is likely that they could tell you the boat's original owner, power and performance, where the boat is now, and probably a couple of humorous anecdotes.

You can be sure that we will put this much loving care into the construction of your boat, as well. We are an old-fashioned boat yard, and we still believe in the personal touch. Yet, we build using some of the latest technologies, such as fiberglass infusion, carbon fiber, and foam core.

Our designs incorporate family secret touches accumulated over more than 100 years of boatbuilding. We match these techniques with up-to-date technologies, trends, and boating needs to create a Maine lobster boat that is both truly modern and beautifully traditional.

In our boatyard, old meets new to create vessels of great beauty and ability.
